Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tenniscomp?
Tenniscomp is a singles tennis competition played all across Sydney. Players challenge each other to move up the Comp table. Matches are arranged directly between players at a suitable time and place for both, which is super flexible and convenient.
It's a really easy way to meet local tennis players in Sydney and play more tennis at a convenient time and place for you.
When is the deadline for registration?
There is no deadline. Tenniscomp runs all year and you can join in and play today. Book your spot.
How much does it cost to play?
Entry is $50 and last for a year. You can play as much as you like over the year.
Where is the Comp played?
There are no fixed courts, you can play where you like. Arrange to play your opponent at an agreed time and place, so it could be your local courts or theirs. A good tip when booking matches is to suggest your preferred courts and book them asap.
Matches should be played in the Comps area e.g. Sydney North Shore Tenniscomp matches should be played on courts within Sydney’s North Shore etc.
When is the Comp played?
There is no fixed day or time to play your matches.
Arrange with your opponent to play your match at an agreed time and place. This is much more flexible than most Comps and means if you’re away on holiday, the weather isn't any good, or you need to reschedule - you can.
What's the standard like?
All standards are welcome and by the Comps nature you will find the right spot based on your standard.
To get to the top of the table you need to win, so the better players rise to the top. Intermediate players will be in the middle and beginners at the bottom.
As your game improves you can move up the table.
How do I book a match?
After you’ve registered on Tenniscomp and paid the annual subscription fee you can start to challenge other players.
Challenge players up to 3 positions higher than you on the table. Click on the ‘Challenge Player’ button and send your opponent a message to arrange a match.
After you have played enter the result on the website and challenge more players.
What's the deadline to play a match?
There is no deadline, play when both players can make it. However, if after a week you haven't heard back from a player you have challenged you can claim a walkover (which is the same as a win) to claim victory and take their spot.
How many players can I challenge?
You can only challenge one player at a time. Only after a result is entered will you be able to challenge a new player.
I have challenged a player and someone is challenging me, what do I do?
Great question. You can both be challenged and challenge at the same time. You need to defend your position on the table by playing the person who is challenging you, at the same time you can challenge for a higher position.
If you decline a challenge your opponent automatically takes your spot.
I didn't get a response from my opponent?
Thats a shame but it happens. Claim a walkover and move on.
